Oh, Hello! I Didn't Notice You Over There on the Other Side of the Uterus
The boys met for the first time last night. Sure, they were introduced as fellow objects taking up space in the same general area on 6 April, but 4 July is a day that I will remember just as fondly---the day Cormac and Arden recognized each other's existence as sentient beings capable of mutual interaction. (This is in addition, of course, to their already established dual roles as (1) warm, squirming mounds that are pleasant to scoot up against and fall asleep next to and (2) expanses of pacifying flesh intermittently serving as acceptable substitutes for a milk-filled nipple.) For those of you who weren't there, a recap---in 10 easy steps---of their initial interaction:
1. Arden makes eye-contact with Cormac
2. Cormac makes eye-contact with Arden
3. Cormac smiles and coos at Arden
4. Kerry starts crying
5. Arden throws up on Cormac
6. Kerry and Doug clean up Cormac
7. Arden reinitiates eye-contact with Cormac
8. Cormac smiles and coos at Arden
9. Arden smiles and coos at Cormac
10. Kerry starts crying
An initial meeting that includes one party vomiting on the other is virtually always inauspicious, but in this case I'm willing to bet against the odds and say that they'll become the best of friends. And who knows; 15 years from now, when they spend a night discovering beer---instead of each other---maybe Cormac will repay Arden the favor.
